Morning Message

The morning message was missing uppercase letters!!! We have been talking about why certain letters need to be capitalized. Students took turns finding the spots that need to be capital.

Making Words

At large group time we did an activity called Making Words. Using a few letters, we were able to make lots of words. This sheet was a stations at Daily 5 Time. In the afternoon, we did an ET family word sort in our Word Study journals.

Measuring

We used craft sticks to measure different tape strips. We also learned a fun snowman dice game.

Learning Spanish

Mrs. Murray has been teaching us how to speak Spanish! Last week we practiced saying our Spanish names and the color words. This week we learned a song about colors, the letter sounds in Spanish and pronouncing our Spanish names. Go to our class web page to hear the song we are learning!

Measuring Footprints

At math time this week we are measuring classmates footprints.

Writing Workshop Goals

Last week and this week we  started making Writing Workshop Goals. Many kids in KC are working on spacing between words.

How To Stories

During this lesson, we focused on spacing, spelling HEART words and rereading our writing.

We are learning how to write How To Stories. A How To Story tells the reader how to do something. We read the story Walk On By Marla Freeze. This story was about teaching a baby how to walk. At large group time, we wrote a How To Build A Snowman story.



We have worked on the first few pages of our stories. We have lots of interesting How To Titles!

Writing Workshop

During Interactive Writing time we focused on writing sentences. A goal at writing workshop time is to be writing sentences on each page. We talked about how spacing between each word helps you read your words. We are excited to share our stories on Friday. We are finishing our books and practicing reading them.
