Shared Reading

During Shared Reading Time we have been reading the following charts. Some of the poems we have illustrated and put in our Poetry binders. During Daily 5 we like reading our poems and song charts with friends. You can see below the chart some of the word work we have been doing. We are experts on word families!
We underlined words that end with the ER sound. We noticed that you can't hear the e!

We brainstormed words with the ill chuck! This is easy for us because we have Will in KC!

We always think of Brooke when we want to spell book! We worked on the ook chunk!

This chart is a poem many of us learned in preschool! We worked on the ed chunk!

This is a poem everyone knows!!! We worked on the ig chunk and the sight word this.

The Queen of Ten

The Queen of Ten came for a visit!! We were happy to see her.

Writing Workshop

We read the story Henry's Show and Tell by Nancy Carlson. In this story Henry is feeling very nervous about sharing in front of his kindergarten class. We noticed that Nancy Carlson used many feeling words and feeling pictures.
We are learning that good writers tell how they are feeling in their stories . We made a Strong Feelings Chart. At writing time this week many children added how they felt.

Buddy Project

Working with our third grade buddies we read a very silly book about a little girl describing herself and her family. We created posters describing ourselves! We had to incorporate things we said about ourselves in our illustration similar to the style of the book.
