The First Week of Kindergarten!

At the end of each day we record what we have learned  in our  kindergarten class Learning Journal! You can see on the first day we were really busy! We read the story The Gingerbread Man Loose In School. We drew pictures of the first day of school. We learned about a Circle Map. 

Mrs. Clancy brainstormed different things about herself on a Circle Map. She put her name in the middle and drew pictures in the circle. We made individual Circle Maps about ourselves! What is something you put on your Circle Map?

On the second day of school our class Gingerbread Man went missing!! Tell someone in your family the different places we went looking for him.  At meeting time, Mrs. Clancy shared a story about her dog Sophie. We worked with a partner telling stories.

Mrs. Clancy worked on this story for the first few days of school. We also learned the different ways to read a book in kindergarten. This anchor chart below helps us remember.

Quick News in KC

We have been making our field day shirts and they are coming out great!! A HUGE thanks to all of the moms helping us!!! We plan on signing our shirts tomorrow and Friday. We made puppets for P day today. Tomorrow we plan on making up puppet shows.

Writing In Stump World

Friday was N for Nature. We took our writing notebooks into Stump World and wrote poems about nature with KG. We loved writing and sharing our work.

Things happening in KC

This Friday we have portfolio morning at 8:30. We will be watching a slideshow of the school year too. Parents are welcome to stay for the slideshow. Next week we plan on making field day T shirts, please send in a white T shirt.

We have caterpillars in KC. We keep checking to notice any changes. Thanks to Emily for sharing these with KC!

 

 

 

 We have been finishing our study of Mexico. We made little books to record some of the things we learned about Mexico.

  Poetry
At writing workshop we have been learning about poetry. Here are some published poems. We look forward to sharing our published poems on Friday.

Special Books

We got these special books to write poems in. Today we worked on list poems. These books will be traveling back and forth from home to school. We started writing poems but decided we will use them for other school related stuff too. Hopefully, this summer students can use this book  to read, write and do math! The kids think these books are AWESOME!
