Class News and Habitats

Everyday at group time we write the Class News. The news shares what we have been learning that day. During Daily 5 time one of the stations is to read the Class News. You can see students reading the news to the class below.




Here is our Habitat Circle Map. We brainstormed what we thought a Habitat was. After reading a few books about habitats we added to our Circle Map.

Living and Nonliving Things

We are learning about living and nonliving things
Some kids wondered...
 Is the rain living or nonliving?
Is a branch living or nonliving?
Is a rock living or nonliving?
We found some living things on the playground today.
We will find out the answer to our questions this week.
Guiding Question: What makes something living or nonliving?
The children worked in small groups labeling living and nonliving things in our habitat books. We shared some of our findings in the video below.

Blooming At Bates

The kids were so excited to share their work at Bates In Bloom. Enjoy the vacation week!
We loved making pattern block butterflies. We wrote Ladybug Math Story Problems
We used our fingerprints to make the bugs!







Nonfiction Books and Thinking Maps
 At writing time we are working on animal fact poems and animal research books. We have been reading lots of books about different animals.

Before reading the book MOVE we predicted some ways we think animals move. We wrote our predictions in green on the Thinking Map.
