Lily is The Special Person This Week!

Writing Workshop
For the last few weeks we have been learning about procedural text.
Procedural texts tell the reader how to make something, do somethings, complete a process, or accomplish any task that requires several steps. Students worked with a partner to create procedural posters on What to do at Dsmissal Time! The kids loved sharing with the class. On a different day this week we started writing "How-To's".

Some of the kids shared on a Voice Thread

The Kid On the Block Puppet Show
We had a special puppet show on Friday.  This show focused on teaching children about accepting differences. Gabe's mom was one of the puppeteers!!!

This week in KC!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable vacation! It was great to get back in the swing of things this week!

Writing Workshop
This week in writing we went back to our unit on map making. This week students had to make a choice. They could make a map to the nurse's office or the main office.
We took a walk taking notes.

We had to write the title to our maps, draw the  picture, add symbols and write the directions. We will be rereading our maps next week with a partner, checking to make sure our information is accurate.
This week we learned to list the directions with numbers.

Shared Reading Time
We learned a new poem called Chip Chop.
Word Study
We have been working on vowel books. We started our books before vacation. We have been learning the different sound vowels make.

We made a Thinking Map of words with the short and long vowel A sound.
Patterns
This week we solved some story word problems that have to do with patterns.
