This Week In KC

The Queen of Ten came for a visit! She wants us to make paper chains in groups of ten for the 100th day! How many groups of ten will we need?

Our Science unit this week focused on materials that absorb water. What were some of the materials we used for this investigations?

During math this week we read a story called The Sleepover.  We used the Rekenrek(Arithmetic Rack) to solve the Bunk Bed problem. In this story Sarah was having a sleepover with 7 of her friends. Sarah had bunk beds and the kids kept playing tricks on Aunt Kate.  How many different ways can the kids trick Aunt Kate?

We loved getting our own Arithmetic Rack to solve this problem!

We published a How To Story This week!
Here are some of the How To Stories. I will be posting the rest on Monday!
If you click on the picture it will make it bigger!

Our next writing workshop unit of study will focus on personal narratives.
This week the whole class worked on a personal narrative about our apple picking field
trip. The anchor chart below shares some of the features we worked on!

You mentioned the story you read was "The Sleepover". Who is the author? We have rekenreks in our classroom and I am always looking for new ways to use them to teach with. Thanks! Stephanie :)
